Kemet Cut-off Wheels

 

Standard Abrasive Cut-off Wheels

Abrasive cut-off wheels available in 152mm (6"), 178mm (7"), 229mm (9"), 254mm (10"), 305mm (12") and 356mm (14"), 406mm (16"). Wheels are designed to give best possible burr free sectioning. It is recommended that Kemet Soluble Fluid for recirculating cooling systems is used.

Aluminium Oxide Cut-off Wheels

Aluminium cut-off wheels

Aluminium Oxide Abrasive wheels are recommended for sectioning hard, medium and soft metals, ferrous alloys and tool steels.


Silicon Carbide Cut-off Wheels

Silicon carbide cut-off wheels

Silicon Carbide wheels are recommended for sectioning medium and soft non-ferrous metals, hard non-metallics, titanium alloys and ceramics.


Diamond Cut-off Wheels

Diamond cut-off wheels

Diamond coated sample preparation cut-off wheels available in high or low concentrations in 76mm (3"), 102mm (4"), 127mm (5"), 152 (6") and 178mm (7") diameters. It is recommended that Kemet Universal Cutting Fluid is used.



High Concentration Diamond Cut-off Wheels
Recommended for routine use on most metals and ceramics.

Low Concentration Diamond Cut-off Wheels
Recommended for use with brittle materials such as glass and ceramics. Available in two types: Standard, (for use on iron and cobalt Base Alloys) and CBN for hard materials.

Kemet Mounting Systems

 

Cold Mounting Resin Systems

For use when speed and ease are required, especially for high volume production. Also used when mounting samples that are easily damaged by heat and pressure. Curing times range from five minutes to eight hours.

Fast Cure Epoxy

Cold mounting resin systems

A low viscosity, clear, two component chemical resistant casting resin. It gels at room temperature and exhibits low shrinkage and excellent adhesion.


Flow Epoxy

Flow epoxy

A thin, slow gelling, low viscosity two component resin system. The resin is clear and chemically resistant and recommended for casting particularly fragile, intricate specimens.

Crimson Epoxy
A two component castable system. It is recommended for use when samples require a definitive viewing background due to its red colour.

Fast Cure Acrylic

Fast cure acrylic

A fast curing translucent two component casting system. It has an unusually high standard of adhesion combined with low shrinkage and good flow characteristics.

 

Polyester
A clear, two component casting resin that gels at room temperature.

 

Compression Mounting Systems

Compression mounting system

Hard Resins with very low shrinkage. Requires Hot Mounting Press

Edge Retention Epoxy Moulding Compounds
Exhibit excellent flow, minimum shrinkage, chemical resistance, high hardness and superior adhesion.

Ultra Fine Edge Retention Epoxy Moulding Compound
Recommended for encapsulation of particularly intricate specimens.

Diallyl Phthalate Short Glass
Provides moderate shrinkage and chemical resistance. Diallyl Phthalate Glass is formulated with mineral powder for a harder surface.

Conductive Thermosetting Mounting Compounds
Available in carbon.

Transparent Thermoplastic Mounting Powder
Recommended for transparent/clear and fragile applications.

Thermo Phenolic Compression Powders
Available in Black, Red, Green and Mottled Green/Brown. 32mm and 38mm Black, Red and Green Preforms are easy to handle and shorten moulding times.

Non-adhesive discs, rolls and papers for the initial stages of metallographic preparations, available in a variety of sizes, dimensions and grits.

Rolls are 50m long and either 75mm or 100mm wide.

Met papers

Waterproof Silicon Carbide paper sheets 230mm x 275mm (9"x11"). Available in grit sizes from 180 to 2500.

 

Bramet

Bramet

Self-adhesive, waterproof silicon carbide papers. No need for clamping or gluing, saving time when changing grit sizes.

Available in diameters up to 305mm and strip form 75x275mm and 305x305mm in grit sizes 60 to 4000.

Abrasive Belts
Abrasive Belts for the initial preparation of metallographic specimens. Available with either Aluminium Oxide or Zirconia Alumina abrasives. The dimensions for all belts are 100mm x 915mm.

Kemet Diaflex

Kemet Diaflex

Self-Adhesive Flexible Diamond Material combines the long life and aggressive cutting action of diamond with the flexibility of cloth. Supplied in either discs or squares, and a wide range of grades, it is used in the plane grinding stages of metallographic preparation. The diamond is either nickel bonded (N) or resin bonded (R).

Kemflex

A new product that makes the grinding process easier for most materials, by linking up a revolutionary support system with various grinding discs. Thanks to Kemflex Fix, you will no longer have to use a magnet or self-adhesive support. No more fastidious un-sticking or disposal of waste from magnetic systems.

The Kemflex Max Grinding Discs

A new generation of diamond grinding discs, offering time saving and longer life. Replace pre-forming abrasive papers (P180 to P600). Kemflex Max quote simply fits on the Kemflex Fix. Water is used for disc lubrication.

Kemet Diamond Products for Metallographic Specimen Preparation

 

A range of Diamond Products specifically developed for Metallographic applications available in Standard and Premier Grades.

Kemet Standard Grade
Manufactured with quality Monocrystalline Diamond Powder, matching the shape and size required to offer rapid stock removal and quality surface finish.

Kemet Premier Grade
The spherical 'blocky' shape of Polycrystalline Diamond contains a greater number of cutting facets than Monocrystalline Diamond, giving significant improvements in performance.

Kemet Diamond Compounds
Water soluble Diamond Compound available in two types:

Type CM: Standard grade containing Monocrystalline Diamond Powder.
Type CP: Premier grade containing Polycrystalline Diamond Powder.

Kemet Diamond Suspension
A low viscosity water soluble Diamond Suspension where no agitation is required.

Available in two types:

Type WM: Standard grade containing Monocrystalline Diamond Powder.
Type WP: Premier grade containing Polycrystalline Diamond Powder.

 

Kemet Diamond Spray
Water soluble Diamond Spray manufactured with Monocrystalline Diamond Powder.

Water soluble, Stick Diamond Compound manufactured with Monocrystalline Diamond Powder. Allows easy application of Diamond Compound to lapping and polishing discs eliminating the need for spatulas or manual application.

Polishing Cloths

 

Kemet Chemo-textile Cloths

Manufactured to the highest standards with accurately controlled uniform thickness. Self-adhesive, and available in soft (PAN-W), medium (PSU-M) and hard (PSU-H) and extra hard (PAD-K) formats. Chem Cloth is also available for Chemomechanical Polishing.

PAN-W
A chemo-textile cloth, with brushed surface used for final polishing of specimens. Best results are obtained using Kemet Diamond Compounds 6 micron and finer.

PSU-M & PSU-H
The medium chemo-textile cloth for smoothing and polishing operation. Commonly used with Kemet Diamond Compound 14 micron and finer.

PAD-K
The ultra-hard chemo-textile cloth used where fast cutting is needed. Used with Kemet Diamond Compound 25 micron and finer. Also available perforated.

CHEM
This is the recommended cloth for Chemo-mechanical Polishing operations using Kemet Polishing Powders and Suspensions.

Kemet Silk-Type Cloths

Kemet Silk-Type cloths have been developed for finishing metallic specimens and components. The five types available are MSFL, MSF, MSR, MST & ULP.

Kemet silk type cloths

MSFL
Will polish metallic specimens flat, and to a mirror finish. Best results are obtained when used with Kemet Diamond Suspension or Compound 3 micron and finer. Water resistant adhesive (oil resistant available).

MSF
Similar to MSFL, but with a thicker, softer adhesive backing and plastic barrier which is resistant to most fluids.

MSR
Similar to MSFL but with rigid plastic backing.

MST
An extra hard, rigid silk cloth for increased cutting action.

ULP

A heavy duty nylon pad for high stock removal.

 

Kemet Nap Type Cloths

For final polishing stages of preparation, Kemet Nap Type Cloths are available with a range of softness and nap length. They give a more gentle polish and are ideal for softer specimens and components.

NFC

Synthetic flock sprayed on cotton carrier, can be used with 1 micron Kemet Diamond Compound after a smoothing operation on MSF to produce a mirror finish on soft materials. Colour -Green

MBL

MRE

NLH

A longer, stiffer nap cloth. Commonly used with 6 micron Kemet Diamond Compound or finer. Colour - Cream

NMH

Kemet nap type cloths nmh

A nap cloth with uni-directional fibres bonded to a cotton twill backing. A durable, wear resistant cloth. Commonly used with 6 micron Kemet Diamond Compound or finer. Colour - Light brown

NMH-B

A short nap cloth with woven backing used for metallographic and some optical polishing operations. Commonly used with 3 micron Kemet Diamond Compound or finer. Colour - Pink

Selvyt SR

A cotton cloth of medium nap pile. Available only as non-adhesive.

Chem H

For use with a chemical mechanical polishing process with colloidal silica suspension.
